Lukas Eder is a freelance opera, concert and song singer and has been a member of the independent ensemble at the Brandenburg Theatre since 2022. He began there as Herr Reich in Nicolai’s “The Merry Wives of Windsor”. Subsequent roles include Antonio and Bartolo in Mozart’s “Le nozze di Figaro”, Frank in “Die Fledermaus”, Sigismund Sülzheimer in “Im weißen Rössl” and Barone Douphol in Verdi’s “La traviata”. He also sang the Old Servant and Orest’s Guardian in Strauss’s “Elektra”, the Second Priest and an Armed Man in “The Magic Flute”, and Horst Flens in Daniel Behle’s “Hopfen und Malz”. His role debut as Masetto in “Don Giovanni” is announced for 2026/27.
A regular guest at Frankfurt Opera since 2012, he has appeared as Deputato fiammingo in “Don Carlo” and as the Second and Fourth Servants in “Capriccio”. In adaptations for children he performed Figaro in Rossini’s “Il barbiere di Siviglia” and Don Magnifico in “La Cenerentola”.
He made his debut at the Ettlingen Castle Festival in 2021 as Frank and Dandini, returned as Moralès and Zuniga in “Carmen” in 2022, and appeared as Monsieur Benoît and Alcindoro in “La bohème” in 2025. At the Rathausoper Konstanz he performed Germano in Rossini’s “La scala di seta”.
Other stage roles include Guglielmo, Papageno, Nardo, the Father in “Hansel and Gretel” and Bartolo in both Mozart and Rossini. For his master’s degree in Karlsruhe, he sang the Officer in Philip Glass’s “In the Penal Colony” in 2021. He was the Narrator in Iván Fischer’s children’s opera “Der Grüffelo” at the Konzerthaus Berlin and Harry Frommermann in “Comedian Harmonists” at the Landestheater Rheinland-Pfalz.
Guest engagements have also taken him to the state theatres of Karlsruhe, Mainz, Saarbrücken and Braunschweig, the Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern and the theatres of Rudolstadt, Koblenz and Aschaffenburg. His Würzburg roles include the title role in Nino Rota’s “La notte di un nevrastenico”, Bonifaz in Ibert’s “Angélique”, John Styx, Villotto and Melisso.
His concert appearances include the baritone solo in Orff’s “Carmina Burana” with the Stuttgarter Choristen and the bass solo in Zelenka’s “Missa votiva” in Worms. In 2019 he sang excerpts from “Carmina Burana” at the Berlin Philharmonie. He appeared with the Brandenburg Symphony Orchestra at the theatre ball in 2023 and in Bach’s Christmas Oratorio for children in 2025.
His repertoire includes Handel’s “Messiah”, Mendelssohn’s “Paulus” and “Elijah”, Fauré’s Requiem and cantatas and masses by Bach, Telemann, Schubert and Mozart. Venues include the Alte Oper Frankfurt, the Schwetzingen SWR Festival, Stuttgart’s Old Castle, Mainz’s Phönixhalle and Fulda Cathedral. The 2018 Christmas Mass at Würzburg Cathedral was broadcast live on television.
Lukas Eder gives song recitals chiefly with pianists Jens Barnieck and Bastian Hahn. His longstanding partnership with Jens Barnieck has taken him to Bad Kissingen, Wiesbaden, Mainz, Frankfurt and Paris, as well as Schloss Grünsberg near Nuremberg.
Alongside Beethoven’s “An die ferne Geliebte”, Schubert’s “Schwanengesang” and Schumann’s Heine Liederkreis op. 24 and “Dichterliebe”, he explores less frequently performed works by Hans Gál, Friedrich Gernsheim and Karl Haine.
